Mensajes desde San Pedro-Message from San Pedro




El Brigadista Holandés Herman Scheerboom escribe a su madre y viceversa, vía la Cruz Roja Internacional,desde el campo de concentración San Pedro de Cardeña(Burgos).El 26 de julio de 1938 llegó a su madre y viceversa," Notificándoles que me encuentro bien." Revés: " Me alegro que usted este vivo, espero que usted vuelva a su madre pronto. Su madre cariñosa." Fue detenido el 2 de Febrero de 1938 en Villalba,llegó a San Pedro el 8 de Abril de 1938,tras el cierre de San Pedro a Palencia, Miranda de Ebro(Diciembre de 1941) y siendo finalmente expulsado del país junto con 9 Holandeses el 22 de Junio de 1943.

Reverse: " It cheers that you are alive, hopes that you return soon to his mother. Its affection". He was captured in Villalba on 2 February 1938,arrived to San Pedro on 8 April 1938,when San Pedro was closed to Palencia,later on December 1941 to Miranda de Ebro and he was expelled of country together with 9 Dutch on 22 June 1943.

Los nacionales Británicos,el 6 de Mayo de 1938,recibieron cursos,capitaneados por la Cruz Roja Española,con objeto de tratar el enviar y recibir mensajes de cuatro líneas. En la parte de atrás,marcaron las líneas donde una contestación pudiera ser escrita. Todos,incluyendo a los enfermos y los heridos,fueron instruidos a escribir estas y solo estas palabras: ”Notificándoles que me encuentro bien.” Unas diez semanas después las cartas llegaron. Antes pasaron por el censor del campo,la Cruz Roja Española en Burgos,luego a la Cruz Roja Internacional en Ginebra y finalmente a la Cruz Roja de cada pais.
British nationals,on May 6,received the forms,headed Cruz Roja Española,with space for the sender´s and the receiver´s address,and four lines for the message. On the back,lines marked where a reply could be written. All,including the ill and the wounded,were instructed to write these and only these words:”Notifying that I am well.” Ten weeks later arrived the message. It had had to pass the camp censor,the Spanish Red Cross at Burgos,the IRC in Geneva and finally the Red Cross of each country.
