Aqui vemos al voluntario Americano del Batallón Canadiense MacPap Claude Pringle. Nacido el 22 de Enero de 1894 en Virginia. Durante la primera guerra mundial sirvió con el ejercito Americano en Francia. Después trabajo como minero y participó en las huelgas del 1922. Se afilió al Partido Comunista en 1931. Salió para Europa en el barco de vapor Britannic el 1 de Mayo de 1937. Herido en Teruel se reincorporó rápidamente trás la ofensiva fascista en Aragon-Catalunya de Marzo de 1938. Detenido y trasladado junto con 11 internacionales de Zaragoza a San Pedro el 14 de Abril de 1938. Estuvo entre los 71 Americanos canjeados por Italianos Fascistas en manos de la República el 22 de Abril de 1939. Repatriado el 22 de Mayo de 1939 en el barco de vapor President Harding.

Up here saw the volunteer American of MacPap´s Battalion Canadian Claude Pringle. He was born on 22 January 1894 in Virginia. During World War I, Pringle served in the U.S. Army and saw duty in France. After the war he worked as a coal miner in Bellaire, Ohio, where he was involved in the mineworkers' strike of 1922. He joined the Communist Party in 1931.Pringle departed for Europe on the SS Britannic, on May 1, 1937. In Spain, he served with the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion and was wounded in the shoulder at Teruel and come back quickly after of fascist attack of March 1938 in Aragon-Catalonia. He was arrested with others internationals and transfered from Zaragoza with 11 Internationals to San Pedro de Cardeña concentration camp on 14 April 1938. He was among the seventy-one POWs who were repatriated, aboard the SS President Harding, on May 6, 1939.

This blog was born with the intention of denouncing the things that happened in the concentration camp of San Pedro de Cardeña, totally hidden by yesterday´s political authorities and today´s political authorities. The name The Jaily News is a copy of the clandestine newspaper, that existed in San Pedro during 1938-39, elaborated by the prisoners to promote the discipline,self-respect and the morale. Counteract to the Daily of Burgos pro-Franco newspaper,one of the few reading objects in this camp. Remembering the words of Bob Doyle, prisoner in San Pedro, is one of my other aims." Anywhere in the world we see great masses of population without sanitary attention neither education, without foods nor drinkable water. The villages of Nigeria, where the oil company Shell obtains extraordinary gains, undergo an intense contamination, whereas they practice Caesarean without anesthesia on the women. The enemy has very sophisticated public relations now and we must change the methods to face them. We must make possible that the truth, our vision of the world in which we lived,the truth comes to the people under an understandible form. This is the best way to remember and to honor the past the past they fought and gave their lives for a better world. The fight continues." Therefore the game is ours, the fight continues. Este blog nace con el objeto de recordar lo ocurrido en el campo de concentración de San Pedro de Cardeña,totalmente ocultado por las autoridades políticas de ayer y de hoy. El nombre The Jaily News es una copia del periódico clandestino,que existió en San Pedro durante 1938-39,elaborado por los presos para promover la disciplina,respeto mútuo y la moral. Una acción valiente y de honrar,recordando este nombre. Contrarestando al diario franquista Diario de Burgos,uno de los pocos objetos de lectura en este campo. Recordando las palabras de Bob Doyle,prisonero en San Pedro,que describe a la perfección otro de mis objetivos."En todo el mundo vemos grandes masas de población sin atención sanitaria ni educación, sin alimentos ni agua potable. Las aldeas de Nigeria, donde la compañía petrolera Shell obtiene ganancias extraordinarias, sufren una intensa contaminación, mientras que a las mujeres les practican cesáreas sin anestesia. El enemigo tiene ahora relaciones públicas muy sofisticadas y tenemos que cambiar los métodos para hacerle frente. Debemos hacer posible que la verdad, nuestra visión del mundo en que vivimos, llega a la gente de forma comprensible. Esta es la mejor manera de recordar y honrar a aquellos que en el pasado lucharon y dieron su vida por un mundo mejor.La lucha continúa." Por tanto la pelota esta en nuestro tejado,teniendo los mismos objetivos que la lucha continúe. Este blog no tiene ningún espíritu de lucro. Cárceles de lujo. El cuartel general en Burgos comunicó la noticia de la visita de un miembro de la Cruz Roja a San Pedro. "En representación del Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja Mr.Jean D´Amman ha visitado la residencia de los prisioneros de guerra instalada en el monasterio de San Pedro de Cardeña Mr.D´Amman vio la llegada de 900 prisioneros que estan trabajando en la construcción de una carretera a los que vio bien alojados en salas amplias y ventiladas dispomiendo cada uno de su colchón,almohada y mantas despues de la visita presenció el saludo de la bandera que realizan los presos en el gran patio del monasterio a los acordes de una..."- Jails of luxury. The Headquarters in Burgos communicated the news of the visit of a member of the Red Cross to San Pedro." El Brigadista Holandés Herman Scheerboom escribe un texto predeterminado por la censura a su madre y viceversa, vía la Cruz Roja Internacional,desde el campo de concentración San Pedro de Cardeñas (Burgos), 26 de julio de 1938. A su madre y viceversa," Notificándole que me encuentro bien." Revés: " Me alegro que usted este vivo, espero que usted vuelva a su madre pronto. Su madre cariñosa"-International Brigade Dutch Herman write a his mother and vice versa,by way of International Red Cross"Notifying that I am well." La primera unidad Británica en llegar en 1936 a defender Madrid junto con los Thälmann Alemanes-The first British unit to from in Spain was Tom Mann. This was a small group of volunteers that had attached themselves to the larger,Thálmann Battalion. Martin David Maki

Brigadista americano, pasó cerca de 1 año encarcelado en San Pedro. Participo en distintas batallas en España con el Batallón Británico y Americano. Aquí le vemos en una foto con el traje del ejército americano en la II Guerra Mundial. Su mayor alegría fue ver la derrota de Hitler. A Finnish-American volunteer from Minnesota, Martin Maki died at the age of 89. “He was just a very incredible idealist,” said his daughter Maria Maki of Annandale, Minnesota. Maki was a prisoner of war at the San Pedro de Cardeña camp concentration. He later served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Brigadista Holandés,confitero de profesión,llegó a San Pedro el 8 de Abril de 1938. Después al Batallón de Trabajadores 75 el 10 de Diciembre de 1939. Pasó varios años en el campo de concentración de Miranda de Ebro,siendo expulsado del pais el 22 de Junio de 1943. Continuo luchando contra el fascismo durante la II Guerra Mundial.Dutch Brigadista, confectioner of profession, arrived at San Pedro at 8 April 1938. Later to the Construction battalion 75 at 10 December 1939. He spent several years in the concentration camp of Miranda de Ebro, being expelled of Spain at 22 June 1943. Continuous fighting against fascism during II the World war.

Voluntario Americano para luchar en la primera batalla mundial contra el fascismo,uno de los creadores del periodico clandestino The Jaily News en SP. Llegó a SP el 14 de Abril de 1938 y fue uno los últimos Americanos en abandonar el campo. Obtuvo la libertad el 25 de Agosto de 1939.American volunteer to fight in the first world battle against fascism, one of the editors of the clandestine newspaper The Jaily News in SP. He arrived at SP the 14 April 1938 and was one the last Americans in leaving the camp. He obtained the freedom the 25 August 1939. www.alba-valb.org

Homenaje en San Pedro de Cardeña -Tribute in San Pedro

En Noviembre de 1996,se realizo un homenaje popular a las Brigadas Internacionales y a todos los presos políticos que por este campo de concentración pasaron.
Participó el pueblo de Burgos colocando flores a los pies de una escultura. Esta fue retirada a los dos días, supuestamante por la Diputación Provincial de Burgos. Que sirvan estas fotos para demostrar lo que allí ocurrió. Mientras el edificio donde,el reponsable de miles de muertos y un golpe de estado fascista,se alzo como generalísimo Franco. Tiene un par de placas glorificando su alzamiento en el edificio militar de Capitanía en Burgos.
In November of 1996,were realised a popular tribute to the International Brigades and all the political prisoners who were in this concentration camp.
The People of Burgos place flowers in front of a sculpture which was retired in two days,suppose by the local Government. These photos demonstrate that there was a tribute. While the building where, the person in charge of thousands of died and a fascist coup d'etat, he raise myself like Franco generalissimo. Its rise in the military building of Captainship in Burgos has a pair of plates glorifying.
